BLUE EYES BLUE (RUNAWAY BRIDE, 1999)

"Look, I guarantee there'll be tough times. I guarantee that at some point, one or both of us is gonna want to get out of this thing. But I also guarantee that if I don't ask you to be mine, I'll regret it for the rest of my life, because I know, in my heart, you're the only one for me." - Ike Graham

There are definitely a more popular themes in a Julia Roberts romantic films, but this theme from Eric Clapton stands out not only because it has one of the more serious tones in a romantic comedy genre but the laidback feel of Clapton's voice made the song stand on its own. I personally prefer this song more than the popular ones Roberts has starred in.

BLUE EYES BLUE
sung by: Eric Clapton

I thought that you’d be loving me
I thought you were the one who’d stay forever
But now forever has come and gone
And I’m still here alone

‘Cause you were only playing
You were only playing with my heart
I was never waiting
I was never waiting for the tears to start

It was you who put the clouds above me
It was you who made the tears fall down
It was you who broke my heart in pieces
It was, it was you who made my blue eyes blue
I never should’ve trusted

I thought that I’d be all you need
In your eyes I thought I saw my heaven
And now my heaven’s gone away
And I’m out in the cold

‘Cause you had me believing
You had me believing in a life
Guess I couldn’t see it
Guess I couldn’t see it ‘til I saw “Good-bye”

It was you who put the clouds above me
It was you who made the tears fall down
It was you who broke my heart in pieces
It was, it was you who made my blue eyes blue
I never should’ve trusted
