IT'S NOT FOR ME TO SAY (LIZZIE, 1957)

Crooner Johnny Mathis sang one of the most famous classic songs ever, It's Not For Me To Say in the 1957 film Lizzie. The film is about one woman's struggle with multiple personality. One of them is the name Lizzie. Based on Shirley Jackson's novel The Bird's Nest. Mathis appears in the film as a piano singer.

IT’S NOT FOR ME TO SAY

sung by: Johnny Mathis

It’s not for me to say you love me

It’s not for me to say you’ll always care

Oh, but here for the moment, I can hold you fast

And press your lips to mine

And dream that love will last

As far as I can see, this is heaven

And speaking just for me, it’s ours to share

Perhaps the glow of love will grow

With ev’ry passing day

Or we may never meet again

But then, it’s not for me to say

(INSTRUMENTAL)

And speaking just for me, it’s ours to share

Perhaps the glow of love will grow

With ev’ry passing day

Or we may never meet again

But then, it’s not for me to say
