THE SHADOW OF YOUR SMILE (THE SANDPIPER, 1965)

"She gave men a taste of life that made them hunger for more!"
- tagline

Elizabeth Taylor and once offscreen partner Richard Burton teamed-up in the '60's tagged as 'an adult love story.' Taylor stars as Laura, a free-spirited unwed mother who falls for her son's school administrator, Episcopalian Priest Dr. Edward Hewitt (Burton) who despises her at first for being an unsuitable mother for her son. The classic The Shadow Of Your Smile sung by Tony Bennett has been awarded the Oscars for best original song and was nominated at the same category at the Golden Globe. The famous song was also recorded numerous times by other artists, old and new alike.

THE SHADOW OF YOUR SMILE
sung by: Tony Bennett

One day we walked along the sand
One day in early spring
You held a piper in your hand
To mend its broken wing
Now I'll remember many a day
And many a lonely mile
The echo of a piper's song
The shadow of a smile

The shadow of your smile
When you are gone
Will color all my dreams
And light the dawn
Look into my eyes
My love and see
All the lovely things
You are to me

Our wistful little star
Was far too high
A teardrop kissed your lips
And so did I
Now when I remember spring
All the joy that love can bring
I will be remembering
The shadow of your smile

(INSTRUMENTAL)

Now when I remember spring
All the joy that love can bring
I will be remembering
The shadow of your smile
