O CHILDREN (HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS, 2010)

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part One needs no further introduction. And most will remember the dancing scene inside the tent of Harry and Hermione (albeit awkward) when Ron left them by themselves. And the song they danced to is by Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, the slow and quite somber O Children.

O CHILDREN
sung by: Nick Cave And the Bad Seeds

Pass me that lovely little gun

My dear, my darling one

The cleaners are coming, one by one

You don't even want to let them start

They are knocking now upon your door

They measure the room, they know the score

They're mopping up the butcher's floor

Of your broken little hearts

O children

Forgive us now for what we've done

It started out as a bit of fun

Here, take these before we run away

The keys to the gulag

O children

Lift up your voice, lift up your voice

Children

Rejoice, rejoice

C'mon, c'mon, c'mon

Here comes Frank and poor old Jim

They're gatherin' round with all my friends

We're older now, the light is dim

And you are only just beginning

O children

We have the answer to all your fears

It's short, it's simple, it's crystal clear

It's round about and it's somewhere here

Lost amongst our winnings

O children

Lift up your voice, lift up your voice

Children

Rejoice, rejoice

The cleaners have done their job on you

They're hip to it, man, they're in the groove

They've hosed you down, you're good as new

They're lining up to inspect you

O children

Poor old Jim's white as a ghost

He's found the answer that we lost

We're all weeping now, weeping because

There ain't nothing we can do to protect you

O children

Lift up your voice, lift up your voice

Children

Rejoice, rejoice

Hey little train! We are all jumping on

The train that goes to the Kingdom

We're happy, Ma, we're having fun

And the train ain't even left the station

Hey, little train! Wait for me!

I once was blind but now I see

Have you left a seat for me?

Is that such a stretch of the imagination?

Hey little train! Wait for me!

I was held in chains but now I'm free

I'm hanging in there, don't you see

In this process of elimination

Hey little train! We are all jumping on

The train that goes to the Kingdom

We're happy, Ma, we're having fun

It's beyond my wildest expectation

Hey little train! We are all jumping on

The train that goes to the Kingdom

We're happy, Ma, we're having fun

And the train ain't even left the station

WHISPER TO A SCREAM (SCREAM, 1996)

“Never say "who's there?" Don't you watch scary movies? It's a death wish. You might as well come out to investigate a strange noise or something.” - Ghostface

One of the most successful slasher flicks in recent years was helmned by Director Wes Craven. Inventive and well-made scary movie. SoHo sung the famous Whisper To A Scream as heard at the end of the movie.

WHISPER TO A SCREAM
sung by: SoHo

Love comes down upon us and it floats like water

Burning with the hope of inside
Feathered books the colors of a bright elation
Stolen in the sight of love

We are, we are, we are we're just children
Finding our way around in decision
We are, we are, we are all but helpless
Take this forever
Whisper to a scream

Birds fly in the eye of a painter's daughter
Spoken at the bitter end
Wasted sacrifice for the new nirvana
Night time, sends us on our way

We are, we are, we are we're just children
Finding our way around in decision
We are, we are, we are all but helpless
Take this forever
Whisper to a scream

Whisper to a scream
Whisper to a scream
Whisper to a scream
Whisper to a scream

We are, we are, we are we're just children
Finding our way around in decision
We are, we are, we are all but helpless
Take this forever
Whisper to a scream

THE KIDS AREN’T ALRIGHT (THE FACULTY, 1998)

I always thought the only alien in this high school was me.” – Stokely

Aliens took over the Herrington High, literally. Creatures from another planet with insatiable thirst for water possesses the teachers and staff of the ill-fated school. A group of unlikely students however bonded to put a stop on them. This was made at the height of teen slasher flicks in the ‘90’s. Director Robert Rodrguez tries a different route of the alien kind. The Offspring sung one of the songs in the film's soundtrack, The Kids Aren't Alright. Aptly timely.

THE KIDS AREN’T ALRIGHT
sung by: The Offspring

When we were young the future was so bright
The old neighborhood was so alive
And every kid on the whole damn street
Was gonna make it big in every beat

Now the neighborhood's cracked and torn
The kids are grown up but their lives are worn
How can one little street
Swallow so many lives

Chances thrown
Nothing's free
Longing for Used to be
Still it's hard
Hard to see
Fragile lives
Shattered dreams
Jenny had a chance, well she really did
Instead she dropped out and had a couple of kids
Mark still lives at home cause he's got no job
He just plays guitar and smokes a lot of pot
Jay committed suicide
Brandon OD'd and died
What the hell is going on?
The cruellest dream - reality

Chances thrown
Nothing's free
Longing for what used to be
Still it's hard
Hard to see
Fragile lives
Shattered dreams

CITY OF BLINDING LIGHTS (THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, 2006)

"Details of your incompetence do not interest me."
- Miranda Priestly

Acting legend Meryl Streep is deliciously evil as the boss from hell Miranda Priestly based on the bestseller of the same title, The Devil Wears Prada. An entertaining film for all sexes. Music group legend U2 sums up the feel of the movie in the eyes of Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) via the song City Of Blinding Lights.

CITY OF BLINDING LIGHTS
sung by U2

The more you see the less you know
The less you find out as you go
I knew much more then than I do now

Neon heart, day-glow eyes
The city lit by fireflies
They're advertising in the skies
And people like us

And I miss you when you're not around
I'm getting ready to leave the ground

Oh you look so beautiful tonight...

Don't look before you laugh
Look ugly in a photograph
Flash bulbs, purple irises the camera can't see

I've seen you walk unafraid
I've seen you in the clothes you've made
Can you see the beauty inside of me?
What happened to the beauty I had inside of me?

And I miss you when you're not around
I'm getting ready to leave the ground

Oh you look so beautiful tonight...tonight
In the city of blinding lights

Time...time....time...won't leave me as I am
But time won't take the boy out of this man
Oh you look so beautiful tonight
Oh you look so beautiful tonight
Oh you look so beautiful tonight

In the city of blinding lights,
The more you know
The less you feel
Some pray for, others steal
Blessings not just for the ones who kneel, luckily
