SOMEONE BELONGING TO SOMEONE (STAYING ALIVE, 1983)

“It's five years later for Tony Manero. The fever still burns!” - tagline

One of The Bee Gees' countless popular songs was in Staying Alive. Aside from providing upbeat themes from both Saturday Night Fever and Staying Alive, they both managed to gave some soulful songs as well and Someone Belonging To Someone is one of them.

SOMEONE BELONGING TO SOMEONE
sung by: The Bee Gees

I know how I feel

Lonely in the black of night
There can be no love for me now
Nobody listens when the words ain’t right
And you get into someone else
It’s hard for me to know
Who’s lovin’ who

And where do I stand
What did I do it all for
There’s no one I could love more
I did it for your heart alone
All that I try to be growin’ inside to me
I can be strong if you’re there

And there is someone belonging to someone
And I got no one belonging to me
I live in a world where the face of an angel
Is all that a fool can see
You got the power to find me whenever I’m lost
Where are you
Who are we

I believe in time
Can eat away a heart of stone
And baby if I leave you too late
It’s just a feather and the bird has flown
It’s colder when the fire dies
With all the trouble I’m in if I lose you too

Then what is my life
If I don’t wanna go through
Anything without you
Couldn’t be life at all
I could be lyin’ on
You are the only one
We didn’t make it by chance

And there is someone belonging to someone
And I got no one belonging to me
I’m caught in a world on the edge of tomorrow
It’s all that a fool can find
I don’t belong in the arms of a love that is lost
Nowhere to cry
There must be something we can say my love
Something except goodbye

And there is someone belonging to someone
And I got no one belonging to me……

WAITING FOR A GIRL LIKE YOU (FOOTLOOSE, 1984)

“Hey, hey! What's this I see? I thought this was a party.
Let's Dance!” - Ren

Another one of the memorable songs in the equally memorable dance film of the ‘80’s Footloose is the song Waiting For A Girl Like You by Foreigner.

WAITING FOR A GIRL LIKE YOU
sung by: Foreigner

So long, I've been looking too hard,
I've been waiting too long
Sometimes I don't know what I will find,
I only know it's a matter of time
When you love someone
When you love someone
It feels so right, so warm and true,
I need to know if you feel it too

Maybe I'm wrong, won't you tell me if
I'm coming on too strong
This heart of mine has been hurt before
This time I wanna be sure

I've been waiting for a girl like you
To come into my life
I've been waiting for a girl like you
Your loving will survive
I've been waiting for someone new
To make me feel alive
Yeah, waiting for a girl like you
To come into my life

You're so good
When we make love it's understood
It's more than a touch or a word can say
Only in dreams could it be this way
When you love someone
Yeah, really love someone

Now I know it's right
From the moment I wake up till deep in the night
There's nowhere on earth that
I'd rather be than holding you tenderly

I've been waiting for a girl like you
To come into my life
I've been waiting for a girl like you
Your loving will survive
I've been waiting for someone new
To make me feel alive
Yeah, waiting for a girl like you
To come into my life

I've been waiting, waiting for you
Ooh, I've been waiting
I've been waiting
(I've been waiting for a girl like you, I've been waiting)
Won't you come into my life?

TOMORROW (ANNIE, 1982)

“I don't need sunshine now to turn my skies to blue.
I don't need anything but you.” – Annie

One of the recognizable theme from a movie as well as the Broadway was sung in Annie. The famous orphan who grew up wanting to have her own family. Based on the comic strip Little Orphan Annie.

TOMORROW
sung by: Aileen Queen

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There'll be sun!

Just thinkin' about
Tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs
And the sorrow
'Til there's none!

When I'm stuck a day
That's gray
And lonely
I just stick out my chin
And Grin, And Say, Oh!

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may

Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I love ya Tomorrow!
You're always
A day
A way!

When I'm stuck a day
That's gray
And lonely
I just stick out my chin
And Grin, And Say, Oh!

Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I love ya Tomorrow!
You're always
A day
A way!

TAKE MY BREATH AWAY (TOP GUN, 1986)

“You don't have time to think up there.
If you think, you're dead.” – Maverick

Berlin sung one of their best song Take My Breath Away that propelled both the song itself and the film to the top. The song won the best original song at the Oscars and the Golden Globe Awards.

TAKE MY BREATH AWAY
sung by: Berlin

Watching every motion in my foolish lover's game

On this endless ocean finally lovers know no shame
Turning and returning to some secret place inside
Watching in slow motion as you turn around and say

Take my breath away
Take my breath away

Watching I keep waiting still anticipating love
Never hesitating to become the fated ones
Turning and returning to some secret place to hide
Watching in slow motion as you turn to me and say

Take my breath away
Through the hourglass I saw you, in time you slipped away
When the mirror crashed I called you, and turned to hear you say
If only for today I am unafraid

Take my breath away
Take my breath away

Watching every motion in this foolish lover's game
Haunted by the notion somewhere there's a love in flames
Turning and returning to some secret place inside
Watching in slow motion as you turn to me and say

Take my breath away
My love, take my breath away

I’M NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP (STAYING ALIVE, 1983)

“Tony Manero knows the old days are over - But nobody's gonna tell him he can't feel that good again.” - tagline

Yet another famous ballad from the movie Staying Alive. This time, Cynthia Rhodes sung with Frank Stallone in one of the most popular songs in the ’80’s, I’m Never Gonna Give You Up.

I’M NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU Up
sung by: Cynthia Rhodes & Frank Stallone

I need to know someone
Whose warmer than the sunshine
Could be that you’re the one for me

Ohh, you touch me deeper darlin'
All my emotions started
Come to me now and you will see

And I’m never gonna give you up for someone else’s love
Never gonna let you go and lose the one I love
Ahh tonight, tonight

Some people never know the
True magic of the moonlight
You give me everything I need

Woman, you really know me
Anticipation’s growing
Come to me now so you will see

That I’m never gonna give you up for someone else’s love
Never gonna let you go and lose the one I love
Ahh tonight, tonight

Ohhh, ahhh, ohhh
Ohh Forever will, together strong
Woah, together here, forever here in love

Never gonna give you up for someone else’s love
Never gonna let you go and lose the one I love
Never gonna give you up for someone else’s love
Never gonna let you go
No one else’s love

Never, never, never
No one else’s love
Never, never, never
No one else’s love

Never gonna give you up for someone else’s love
Never gonna let you go and lose the one I love
