OVER THE RAINBOW (THE WIZARD OF OZ, 1939)

"Now I know I have a heart, because it's breaking." - Tin Woodsman

Classic in every sense of the word. The movie was based on a beloved children’s book and the theme has become a household name at the time of its release. Up until now, the theme never ceases to put a smile on anyone’s face. Timeless.

OVER THE RAINBOW
sung by: Judy Garland

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high
There’s a land that I heard of once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true

Someday I’ll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That’s where you’ll find me

Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow, why then oh why can’t I?
Oh why can’t I?

If happy little bluebirds fly, beyond the rainbow,
Why oh why can’t I?

THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT (SWING TIME, 1936)

The song The Way You Look Tonight has been used many times in other movies but it was in the film Swing Time where it was first heard. The great Fred Astaire was the voice behind the song. Swing Time, one of the most celebrated team-up of Mr. Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Timeless.

THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT
sung by: Fred Astaire

Someday when I’m awfully low
When the world is cold
I will feel a glow
Just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight

Oh, but you’re lovely
With your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft
There is nothing for me
But to love you
Just the way you look tonight

With each word
Your tenderness grows
Tearing my fear apart
And that laugh
That wrinkles your nose
Touches my foolish heart

Lovely, never ever change
Keep that breathless charm
Won’t you please arrange it
‘Cause I love you
Just the way you look tonight

Mmm...
Just the way you look tonight
